Darren Turner is one of Britain’s most versatile drivers with a successful track record in sports car, touring car and single seater championships.

Darren began his racing life in amateur karting before moving to single seaters in 1992 via the Jim Russell Racing Drivers’ school, where he made it into the World Scholarship Final. This was the start of a series of single-seater campaigns - 1993 Formula First Winter Series Championship; 1994 Formula Vauxhall Championship; 1995 & 1996 British Formula Renault Sport Championship; 1997 British Formula 3 Championship; 1998 Formula Palmer Audi Championship.

By winning the 1996 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award, Darren ensured that he caught the attention of the F1 fraternity which lead to test drivers in 1997 with McLaren, Jordan and Arrows, before becoming a McLaren F1 test driver in 1998, a position he held until 2005

This collaboration with McLaren led to a gradual move away from single-seaters to sports car and touring cars. In 1999 he was a member of AMG Mercedes driver squad for Le Mans. Since then he has competed in a number of sports car series and events including the Le Mans 24 hours, Sebring, and the ALMS in a variety of machinery, including most recently the Prodrive Aston Martin DBR9.

In recent years Darren has dovetailed his sports car career with a series of touring car campaigns including two years with Team Rosberg/AMG Mercedes in the DTM championship, before making his debut in the British Touring Car Championship with SEAT in 2006. More recently he has become an integral part of Aston Martin's GT and prototype sports car programmes.

Darren, is a keen to encourage new people into the sport and in 2007 he became one of the judges for the Young Driver scheme making him an ideal Go Motorsport Ambassador.
