“Marshals are fantastic people,” he enthused. “They can save lives and, if anything they are braver than us Formula One drivers, but no one gets to see them and they don’t get the credit they deserve. We do need more of them and at the end of the day we can’t go racing without them. If there’s anyone out there who wants to get involved in motor sport, it’s a great way to do it.”
In the same exclusive interview, Lewis also recalls how he got into motor sport by racing remote control cars and then fun karts while on holiday in Spain and talks about his prospects of scoring an ‘emotional’ home British Grand Prix win at Silverstone.
